Lakeview

Called home by many young professionals, Lakeview hosts an exciting array of retail and nightlife. Because of its diverse commercial opportunities, Lakeview caters to every age and every interest. The various shops dotting streets such as Addison and Belmont have and will certainly continue to find their way into the hearts of many shoppers looking for low prices and new trends. Notable stores include the second hand store Ragstock and a trendsetter’s haven, Pink Frog. Stores such as Belmont Army Navy Surplus carry name-brand items in addition to authentic army attire.

If sound nightlife is a priority, then Lakeview is the neighborhood to visit. Bands, both local and visiting, often play at Schuba’s Tavern and the Vic Theater-to name a few possible venues. Between Stage Left Theater, Improv Olympic, ComedySportz, and the Chicago Theater Building-an evening of live performances is always an option as well. Sheffield Street is home to an impressive amount of sports bars, which provide a fun, laid back setting in which to enjoy the game with friends. The dining options exceed as well. From traditional Thai restaurants such as Penny’s noodles to the authentic Italian Mia Francesca to 24-hour diners such as Clark’s, there is an eatery to suit even the pickiest palate.

Although its busiest areas give the allusion of catering solely to the young, many families make long-term homes in Lakeview. There are many elegant single-family homes on quiet, tree-lined side streets, in addition to larger high rises in the neighborhood’s busier areas. There is quick, convenient access to Lake Shore Drive (US-41) for commuters. Additionally, CTA users have one of the busiest El stops, Belmont-which services the Brown, Red, and Purple lines-nearby.

Undoubtedly, Lakeview is a trendsetting neighborhood; but due to the diverse nature of its many stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues, it attracts a variety of people. At the end of the day, Lakeview is an energetic community for anyone, no matter what their age.
